Mother’s Day 2020: Where to get fancy take-out throughout Pierce County

Mother's Day takeout

In a normal year, we’d pick out mom’s favorite Pierce County restaurant for Mother’s Day and make a reservation. There would be mimosas aplenty, a brunch buffet or maybe a steak-and-lobster feast with doting table-side service. These aren’t normal times. Pierce County restaurants remain closed for in-person dining due to Coronavirus-related gathering restrictions, which means restaurants will take a serious hit this year financially. Dine-in service on Mother’s Day is a big revenue generator for restaurants, so this is one more blow to local restaurants at a time when they really need our support.

If you’re able to afford a take-out meal right now, there is one way to help restaurants. Order Mother’s Day takeout from a Pierce County restaurant. Here are restaurants with Mother’s Day offerings. I’ve provided links to menus below.  Restaurant owners – do you want to be included in my story? Email me all the details at dinepiercecounty@gmail.com. Mother’s Day is Sunday, May 10, 2020.

Lake Tapps Italian restaurant Al Lago will offer meals in two sizes – a single-serve version or to-go meal packs that will feed 4 with brunch or dinner choices. At dinner, choose from prime rib, lobster, crab-stuffed cod, eggplant parmigiana, veal picatta and more entrees, served either as entrees-for-one or meal packs for 4 diners ($19.95-$65.95 for single entrees or $59.95-$219.95 for the meal packs that feed 4). Add-ons include mimosas ($20), dessert ($9) and salad ($6-$12).

This Stadium neighborhood chocolate company is Tacoma’s only bean-to-bar chocolate maker. For Mother’s Day, the chocolate makers have assembled a six-piece box with an array of chocolate truffles, from dark to milk to white with flavors ranging from elderflower dark chocolate to violet white chocolate and ruby chocolate rose. The boxes come tied with a decorative bow. Co-owners Topher and Julie Farrell have also made a rare item not often available at Tease. Their special honey goat cheese truffles are “…goat cheese, semisweet chocolate and honey rolled together and coated in bittersweet chocolate. We typically only make them for the Stadium District Art, Wine & Beer Walk and Artisan Cheesemakers Fest every year,” said Topher. He described the process of making the truffles as “difficult.” This might be the only batch they make, so get it while it lasts.
