20+ New Year’s Eve fancy take-out options in Tacoma & Pierce County

Staying home and skipping the big gatherings is necessary, but certainly less fun than the way we all want to celebrate the end to what has been a horrible year for most.

But it will suck just a tiny bit less if you order something fancy, or something funny. 

Here are places around Tacoma and Pierce County with party packs, cocktails-to-go, and hilarious doughnuts that your inner third grader will love for your New Year’s Eve at-home celebration.


This Midland eatery will have a fancy take-out special of a 14-ounce dry-rubbed ribeye with shaved truffle, a crab cake, asparagus with hollandaise, salad, dessert and some free bubbly. This Gig Harbor smokehouse is offering an appetizer take-out box stuffed with caramelized pork belly bites, queso dip, cheesy chorizo balls, Texas Twinkies, donut holes, bacon-wrapped Oreos and more. Don’t forget to order an add-on cocktail kit, as well. $100 for four. Order online here

This Gig Harbor fancy pants restaurant has a helluva New Year’s Eve dinner available for pickup. The dinner includes a bottle of sparkling wine and candles. Feast on filet mignon and lobster with a potato pave, Brussels sprouts leaves with pine nuts, French onion soup, salad and mascarpone crepes for dessert. If there’s any bar in Tacoma that knows how to party right, it’s the Peterson brothers, co-owners of the Eleven Eleven in Tacoma’s Hilltop neighborhood (and Peaks and Pints in Proctor and The Valley in the Dome District). This one’s truly for the procrastinators because the restaurant will be taking orders through 8 p.m. New Year’s Eve, or as long as supplies last. Order a ready-to-eat prime rib dinner ($48), or cioppino ($44), sea bass ($39) and more options at Dash Point’s Gino’s at the Point. Fancy doughnuts? Tasty doughnuts? Trendy doughnuts? Legendary Doughnuts has them. They even debuted delightful hot cocoa bombs this winter. Every time I talk to owner Shannon Patten, who grew her small regional chain of doughnut shops over the last decade, she’s got something hilarious to say and let me tell you, her latest creations have me in stitches. 

Flip the, ummmm, bird to 2021 with a special bear claw style doughnut with one specific finger extended. The one pictured here is safe for family-style viewing, but the PG-13 doughnuts will be available in store December 31 and January 1. Available for pre-order, too.

Say goodbye to a truly bad year with a 2020 poop emoji hot cocoa bomb, available at Legendary Doughnut shops on Wednesday, December 30.

This downtown Tacoma restaurant and cocktail stop should be widely known for its smash burgers and the kitchen staff is going all out on New Year’s Eve with a stackable burger option. This shutdown has been rough for restaurants and Over The Moon Cafe in Tacoma’s Opera Alley has decided to suspend operations until dining restrictions are less restrictive, the restaurant announced here. The restaurant will reopen, but until then, New Year’s Eve will be your last chance to enjoy the spectacular New American cuisine at Tacoma’s most romantic restaurant. The Table, a New American spot in Tacoma’s Sixth Avenue neighborhood, is offering six-course meal that is fully prepped and ready to be cooked at home. The menu includes cheese and foie gras to eat during prep, plus brown butter crab cakes, braised bison short ribs, seared mustard greens and raspberry glazed lemon mascarpone cake. The steakhouse’s New Year’s Eve fancy dinner sold out quickly, but they’ve still got you covered for great eating on New Year’s Eve. The seafood specials at Sixth Avenue’s Primo Grill sound like the best seafood game in town at the moment. I’ve watched grilled swordfish with citrus risotto, mahi mahi, grilled King salmon and petrale sole specials roll through Primo’s December’s menu. And if you’re looking for one of Tacoma’s best steaks, you’ll find it at Primo Grill.
