We’re two weeks out from Christmas. Here’s where to supplement or purchase your Christmas 2021 dinner at restaurants, caterers and bakeries in Pierce County. 

I’ve found fewer options than in year’s past, but I hope to add to this story over the next week leading up to Christmas. I’ve got bakeries with holiday trays available to order, smokehouses that will smoke your turkey for you and the best place in town to buy smoked prime rib. CATERED MEALS FOR PICKUP OR DELIVERY 

BRUNO’S EUROPEAN RESTAURANT

This Polish-German restaurant in Lakewood will have side dishes available for purchase to supplement your holiday meal.

Menu: Pierogi ($12), borscht ($7.50-$8), cabbage rolls ($10) and more.

CARR’S RESTAURANT 

This Lakewood restaurant known for its big portions and menu of American classics is offering mix-and-match meals that serve from two to six. The restaurant is closed for Christmas, but diners can pick up their holiday meals on Dec. 24. The menu includes: 

Menu: Dinner choices include prime rib or carved ham dinners, each feeding 2-3 or 4-6 eaters. 

Prices: Ham dinners are $80 (serving 2-3) and $120 (4-6). Prime rib dinners are $115 (2-3) and $215 (4-6). Dinners come with a mix-and-match menu that includes: 

Mix-and-match sides: Pick one of each. Starch (garlic mashed potatoes, herb red potatoes, sweet potato and root vegetable blend), bread (dinner rolls, garlic baguette or rosemary-parmesan focaccia for an upcharge), a side dish (asparagus,  mac and cheese, collard greens, grilled broccolini; or add roasted tri-color carrots w/candied pecans and goat cheese for an upcharge), plus a dessert (apple or pecan pie, chocolate peppermint mousse, holiday cookies; or add a cheesecake or cherry pie for a surchage).

Note: Extra a la carte items also available.

LOS TAMALES 

Pick up your Christmas tamales at this East Tacoma Mexican restaurant known for its excellent tamales selection. The restaurant is the sister business to neighboring El Jalapeno grocery store.

Order tamales by: ASAP 

Tamale flavors: pork in red sauce, chicken in red sauce, chicken in green sauce, rajas with peppers and cheese, beef in red sauce and sweet elotes.

VAULT CATERING

This Tacoma caterer will actually deliver your Christmas meal. Here are all the details. 

Menu: Dinner feeds 4-6 and includes prime rib with au jus and horseradish créme, herb roasted potatoes, asparagus, sourdough bread, whipped salted butter and a whole pecan pie.

NETSHED NO. 9

This Gig Harbor breakfast restaurant is closed for Christmas, but will have a fancy pants breakfast pack available for pick-up on Dec. 23. All you do is do a quick heat and serve. 

Menu: Includes a Buck’s Fizz Kit with a choice of orange or cranberry juice and a bottle of sparkling wine; scratch-made hot chocolate; a breakfast strata with chorizo, potatoes and leeks; tomato jam and a jar of chimichurri; a skillet of cinnamon rolls.

DINE OUT ON CHRISTMAS OR CHRISTMAS EVE  

BEN DEW’S CLUBHOUSE GRILL

This longtime Tacoma restaurant features the greatest hits of American eats and will have take-out Christmas Eve (Dec. 24, 2021) plates ready to eat at home. The restaurant also is offering dine-in service all day on Christmas Eve. Reservations recommended, but only available for parties of 5 or more. CORRECTION: This restaurant is only open on Christmas Eve for dining, not Christmas Day.

Pickup:  7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, 2021

Reheat at home: No, the meal will be fully cooked and ready to eat. Dine-in service is also offered for Christmas Eve only.

The menu: Ham and scalloped potatoes dinner, prime rib dinner, honey walnut prawns dinner, chicken fried chicken dinner.

COPPER CREEK INN

Ashford’s Copper Creek Inn is a bit of a drive, but there’s a Christmas dinner waiting for you at the end. Meals available for dine-in or takeout, served on Christmas Day.

Price: $29.95 per meal, plus appetizers

Style of service: A la carte dinners available, plus short list of appetizers

Breakfast service: Breakfast menu available until 11 a.m. (regular menu and specials) on Christmas Day only

Dinner service: Available from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Christmas Day (Dec. 25, 2021). Call for specific details. 

Dinner menu: Choice of apple stuffed pork loin, pistachio crusted trout, braised brisket and tortellini florentine. Entrees come with sides choices. Also, an appetizer menu, pies and desserts. Regular menu not available during Christmas dinner.

This upscale Italian restaurant in the Proctor neighborhood is having a Christmas Eve dinner. Here are details

Menu: The four-course meal will include an amuse bouche, a choice of appetizer, entree choices of seafood-stuffed pasta, slow braised bison short ribs or halibut, plus a choice of dessert. See the full menu here.

BUY SMOKED MEATS  

THE OPAL LOUNGE 

This South Tacoma barbecue spot is offering prime rib and slow-smoked brisket by-the-pound. 

Menu: Prime rib is priced $27 a pound with a $50 non refundable deposit applied toward the total cost of the meal. Available in quarter portions (about 3-4 pounds), half portions (6-8) or whole portions (10-12 pounds). Prices are estimates based on post-cooked weight.

Smoked brisket is $19 a pound, post-cooked weight. They weigh 5-7 pounds and feed 15-18 people.  

Add-ons: Get a small horsey sauce or au jus for $3; large for $5. The restaurant’s side dish menu is also available for ordering.  

Fully cooked: The meat is fully cooked and ready to eat.

SOUTH HILL PO’ BOY & BAR-B-Q 

This South Hill barbecue spot will start taking reservations for smoked turkeys on Dec. 13. Don’t delay! 

Details: Diners provide the turkey and the smokehouse will smoke it for $2.99 a pound. Turkeys must be frozen and a receipt showing the turkey has been purchased two days prior.
